Col Joseph Sirois is the Northeast Region Special Advisor to the Commander. His primary duties are to support the region commander execute his duties throughout the region with a focus on operations, emergency services, finance and internet operations. He is a member of the NER HQ membership, awards and promotion review boards, and finance committee.
Col Sirois began his CAP career in June 1992 with New Jersey wing’s Twin Pine Composite Sq as a Professional Development Officer a few months after his son joined the unit. He then became the squadron commander and a few years later moved to Group 221 as group commander. Col Sirois then held several positions at New Jersey wing headquarters including Director of Operation, Chief of Staff and Vice Commander before moving to region as assistant deputy chief of staff - operations. In 2007 he then assumed the region chief of staff duties for 2 years before becoming the region vice commander – south.
Col Sirois holds or has held both air and ground emergency services specialties including: mission pilot, mission check pilot, AOBD, GBD, IC1 and, ARCHER Operator and instructor to mention a few.
Col Sirois retired in 2002 after 35 years service with Telcordia Technologies as Director of Software Development of Internet Protocol Network Management systems where his team focused mainly on prototype development of systems that did real time traffic management and control of Multi Protocol Label Switching networks. A short time after retiring Col Sirois established a new business providing computer and networks sales and services to small businesses in his local community of Bridgewater NJ.
