Director of Information Technology

POSITION: Director of Information Technology
REPORTS TO: NER Chief of Staff

DESCRIPTION:

Position responsible for:

  • Ensure that administration of region and subordinate domains are managed in accordance with CAP’s regulatory requirements, Region and Wing Procedures.
  • Responsible for setting password policies for local field developed applications/systems to ensure user access is controlled and restricted to authorized users.
  • Ensure all members with access to confidential data have a business requirement for the information and take reasonable steps to protect it.
  • Ensure develop and maintain a reasonable capability to address system interruptions of locally developed applications.
  • Ensure that anti-virus protection is operational on all CAP issued computers.
  • Assist members with hardware/software issues.
  • Assist NER IT Wing officers
  • Oversees computer network utilized by NER

Full time or Part-time assistant positions are available to manage the following IT operations. Looking for members with applicable knowledge/experience in the noted technologies or a strong technical knowledge/experience in related/similar systems to be able to learn and work in these areas:

  • Webmasters: Global Reach SiteViz CMS; Joomla CMS, Google Web.
  • Computer Systems Administrators: Debian LINUX; Joomla CMS, Google G-Workspace, DNS
  • Database Administrators (DBA): MySql, SqlLite, phpMyAdmin
  • Email Administrator: Postfix, PostfixAdmin, Dovecot, SMTP, IMAP, SSL, TLS, Mailman3, Django, Python, DMARC, DKIM, SPF,
  • Event Booking application administrator: Joomla version, paypal plugin, system upgrades

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants should hold a minimum grade of Captain.

Desirable to hold a Senior Rating in the IT Specialty Track.

Desirable to have knowledge or skills to learn CAP computer systems and procedures.

The IT Officer should be familiar with NHQ IT governance bodies and responsibilities, CAPR 120-1, Information Technology Security, CAPR 1-2(I), Personally Identifiable Information, CAPR 1-3, Disclosure of confidential Information by Volunteer Members, and CAPR 1-1, Ethics Policy.

Members must be self-starters, needs little supervision, can work as a team member and as an individual.
