Search and Rescue Competition

The Northeast Region of the Civil Air Patrol periodically hosts a Search and Rescue Competition (SARCOMP). Teams from each of the wings (states) comprising the Northeast Region are invited to participate and compete against each other, making this one of the largest exercises organized by NER Headquarters. Teams, including air and ground crews, are evaluated in different types of air and ground search techniques, search planning, radio communications, equipment inspections, and written exams.

The purpose of the SARCOMP is to test and practice mobility readiness and mission skills through an open competition that will be judged by mission-experienced CAP members.

The last SARCOMP was 22-24 May, 2009 at Westover Air Reserve Base (ARB) in Massachusetts. This was the second Northeast Region SARCOMP to be held at Westover, with the first having taken place over the 2007 Memorial Day Weekend.
